How gloss, satin, matte and textured finishes differ in traction, cleaning, scuff hiding and look.
A glossy floor looks great, but sheen and traction are different things. Gloss reflects light and shows off color, satin softens glare and hides scuffs and matte is quiet and modern. Texture is added separately, with fine grit for light traction or coarser aggregate for ramps and wet areas. The best finish depends on who walks on the floor, in what shoes and with what spills.
For bare feet or a workshop, a fine texture with satin sheen is a good balance. For a showroom garage, gloss with texture only at doors and steps keeps the shine. Matte finishes tend to grip better and hide marks. Rain and winter boots bring water into Nashville garages often enough to make traction a smart choice. Texture does make cleaning a bit harder, so a stiff brush is part of the routine. We show samples and discuss zones so you get grip where it counts.
