Shot blasting concrete prep that uses steel shot to clean and profile large or heavily coated slabs quickly, with built-in dust collection and a consistent texture.
Shot blasting is a different way to prepare concrete. A machine throws small steel beads at the floor, cleaning and texturing the surface in one pass while a built-in vacuum pulls the shot and debris back into a hopper. It excels on large floors, thick old coatings, traffic paint and slabs that need a rougher profile for a heavier coating. Many commercial and shop floors in Nashville are prepared this way, and some garage floors benefit too when speed and texture matter.
We decide between shot blasting, grinding or a combination after we look at the slab and talk about the coating you plan to apply. Blasting leaves a uniform, slightly rougher profile, so we pair it with a coating thick enough to fill the texture. Edges and corners that the machine cannot reach are ground by hand tools. After the pass, the floor is vacuumed, inspected and prepared for crack repair and coating. We explain what to expect, including noise and the need to keep the area clear while the machine works.

On large floors, thick coatings or when a rougher profile is wanted.
It leaves a textured profile, so the coating build is chosen to fill it.
Machines collect shot and dust, though some residue is vacuumed afterward.
